On being a Senior Citizen

Old Age is a club that no one wants to join. You put off becoming a member  as long as possible but the day comes when  willing or not you are  fully paid up. There are various indications to show that this is imminent, for instance  on cautioning  someone as they pass, " Please mind my bad leg, " and they dont laugh then you know you're on the way, or when looking at your latest  photo you remark , "Oh dear, I look positively ancient ! " and the reply is, " There's a reason for that,Mother "
Although there are some perks for members, like bus passes, cheaper entrance fees, free loft insulation and  free hearing aids . I have two and they are wonderful. people no longer  mutter and mumble and  best of all I can switch them off whenever I like . Also life is much simpler. You dont spend much on food because you can't manage generous portions and rich fare tends to be disagreeable. You can dress for comfort and not power. Sometimes you can even get new slippers for old at Age Concern.
Must say though that   I wasn't best pleased the other day when a neighbour referred to us as "The old couple at number 10 "
Never mind . There are many who would love to have had the oppertunity to join this club. Must think  'carpe diem'.  Pass the chocolates please -- and I would like a glass or two of red wine.
Happy weekend to all !

Great to see you blogging again and that you are well too.

Aw I feel a senior citizen already.

I have been staying with my Mother for awhile and I think the worst for her is having your children telling you what to do.

You are so funny Barbara and have such a great wit. Glad to see you back posting. I used to love reading your posts out to Des and now will do that with Mum tomorrow too.

And at least I have some positive things to look forward to rather than stupid opinions of doctors. I think I would really rock one of those burkas. Thanks for the suggestion.

Barbara, have missed hearing from you. Lost my blogging list and am reminded when someone comments.
I know I am a senior citizen but really the mind and body disagree :)

Barbara it's sooo great to hear from you. Glad you are keeping well, despite the pressure of being a senior citizen. I know you'll always stay 'young at heart'! I'm still getting used to being called 'maam' instead of 'miss'!

I keep thinking that I'm actually going around in an old lady disguise. There is no real advantage to it, but I CAN"T be as old as I look!

Carpe Diem; Pass the chocolates; and Red wine?
Rely?
Old and with a cane and dressed in black with a limp?
Sounds like you're " the Pmpor" to me.
And UN seems to confirm it.
As does " Roberto Grossatesta".
And ditto for Dassault- RK1- Rgyfr.
But don't take my word for it.
Ask " Cass & Jones Farms".
They're the ones with Smith Farms- Quarry Lanes.
Wicklow.
They're on Mmilayst - and that's with Isstanbul.
And Meese.
Fluart 5 got so much Peaceart, it's breaking away at the
seams with peas and that Jay Den 555.
